Big Brothers Big Sisters Presents “B.I.G. Impact Day” at Rock City Climbing Center

ANAHEIM HILLS, Calif., February 9, 2007 – Big Brothers Big Sisters of Orange County will present a “B.I.G. Impact Day” at the Rock City Climbing Center in Anaheim Hills on Saturday, March 10.  Dozens of “Bigs” and their “Littles” will enjoy an afternoon of indoor rock climbing (visit www.rockcityclimbing.com).

Unlike the traditional one-to-one mentoring program, in which the “Bigs” and “Littles” can arrange their own outings and meet more frequently, in the B.I.G. Impact program they meet only once monthly at an agency-planned event.  It offers an excellent alternative to volunteers unable to commit to the traditional program, or those who wish an introduction to being a Big Brother or Big Sister.  Volunteers make a minimum six-month commitment to B.I.G. Impact.

Upcoming B.I.G. Impact events include a tour of a police department, a visit to Knott’s Berry Farm, a picnic, Movie Day, a day at the beach and volunteering at a food bank.  More “Bigs” are needed.  Call (714) 544-7773 or visit www.bigbrooc.org.

Female volunteers are encouraged to inquire about the Bright Futures program, a similar program for girls ages 10-16.  Bright Futures offers female empowerment events, such as career days, introduction to self-defense and first aid and CPR classes.

Volunteers Needed – A Big Brother or Big Sister acts as a friend and mentor in the life of a child in need, or Little Brother or Little Sister, ages 6-16.  Additional Bigs as well as Littles are needed.  For information, visit www.bigbrooc.org or call (714) 544-7773.
